Factories of Life & Planets

Almost every single religion of humankind has something to do the celestial heavens and stars. This drawing nearness and yearning of fascination of the look in heavens gives us the very feelings of connection to the god(s) who made us. The very fabric of stardust that builds the very elements inside you and outside of your life have been made by the supergiant stars. Stars are the very factory of most of the elements that we have been made up of in this universe. How does this process works? The key answer in this lies in gravitational force that contra balances the repulsive forces of electromagnetic force.

The stars and planets are celestial masses that are suspended in space held by gravitational pulls of masses. The major difference in stars and planets lies in the mass size. A single star with enough mass is able to overcome the resistance of electromagnetic forces that repel the protons together. Jupiter, our solar system planet is called a failed star because it did not have enough mass to overcome the repulsion forces of hydrogen atoms. This squeezing of protons together is called nuclear fusion. The electromagnetic repulsion forces are overcome by gravitational forces. These forces do not disappear. A star is a giant ball of two forces fighting each other. If you take a proton and squeeze into the next proton the repulsion forces pull the two protons apart, but if you have enough mass the gravitational force still overcomes the repulsion force of two protons like two hydrogen atoms. Eventually you are able to form a strong nuclear force that will hold those protons and neutrons together when distances are very short. Once you start fusing small elements you start to form bigger elements.

If the star is a supergiant star or hypergiant star the gravitational force always wins over repulsion forces of positive charges and heavier elements are created. This process continues until the strong nuclear forces start winning over the gravitational force. When you create a large element from smaller elements the strong nuclear forces increase in its energy force. This increase in atomic size starts to produce weak forces, which are also responsible for building elements. For example, if the element has been fused enough too many times it can undergo beta decay if the element has too many neutrons to protons ratio. This nuclear decay itself increases the atomic number of element by converting a neutron into a proton. The building of large elements puts pressure on the outer edge of the star from heat that is generated from fusion. It becomes harder and harder for big stars to pull the elements of large nuclei to fuse together. The star is always pulsating between these two forces. Eventually the stretch of two forces cause the star to collapse causing major explosion that causes supernova. This explosion causes all of the elements that were made in the stars to be spit out. These elements all emit different electromagnetic spectrum of colors. The core of the star might remain, but the rest of the elements are just floating around in space ready to make new planets just like the earth that has nickel and iron at its core. Those two elements alone tell us that our ancestor star was some giant star that has exploded. Those elements are essential building blocks of matter and all you need to get started is to have hydrogen atoms with large enough mass to start the squeezing of elements into larger elements.

How can you know what elements have been able to be created by supernova explosion. Each element produces a different spectrum of light colors based on its wavelength and frequencies of light producing waves. We have spectrographs that measure those wavelengths and frequencies from the light that was emitted from supernovas. For example, our Hubble telescope is equipped with two spectrographs that collects this light information. Based on the separation of different light colors we can accurately predict what elements were created from different star explosions. It is a marvelous wonder that giant stars are factories for elements from which our life has emerged.

Politics of monkeys and their bananas

There formed two separate ideologies of how bananas should be picked up from banana trees among the monkeys.  The two ideologies led the monkeys to split into two separate colonies; colony A and colony B.

Colony A developed a system that if you pick your own bananas you will get to keep all of them for yourself, even if you do not eat them. Colony B developed a system that no matter of how many bananas you pick, you have to share your bananas. Therefore, the two colonies started competing with each other praising that their system was better than the other was for survival.

Colony A monkeys started aggressively to pick up as many bananas as they possibly could. In fact, they worked so hard that they started to massively strip all banana tress of their bananas. The slow on start and less agile monkeys got no bananas at all, so they starved. Only the fittest and smartest monkeys got to keep their bananas, and off course the ones who stole. Eventually all the monkeys realized that there wouldn’t be enough bananas left on the trees if everyone massively accumulated bananas so they acknowledged that sharing and rationing was the way to go in order to survive the shortage of bananas on banana trees. Colony A shifted to colonies B plan and said that the sharing plan was actually better.

Colony B had all right start with the picking up of bananas until they realized that it was not worth to pick up extra bananas when a chief of bananas came to round up bananas and shared the bananas with monkeys who did not work so hard. Eventually the agile and hardworking monkeys stopped picking up extra bananas. There came a famine shortage of bananas to go around. The chief of sharing bananas started stealing bananas for himself and his close family while other monkeys starved. Some monkeys seeing that the chief was stealing the bananas for himself while starving other monkeys killed him for not being fair. The monkeys that killed the chief said that monkeys in colony A were right all along and decided to go with colony A plan of keeping your own bananas to survive.

Everyone deserves to be viewed with social equality. Its shameful if you don't.

Nothing captures the American spirit of what social justice should mean then the poem " I too" by Langston Huges. Believe it or not many Americans view each other with a cast system in mind. Today we do it more through social economic lenses of which social status you fall into. I get asked questions "what kind of work do you do?" all the time. This question is intended to see what kind of social money bracket you fall into. If you are important or not. If my time to talk to you is worthy of my time.

I, Too

I, too, sing America.

I am the darker brother.
They send me to eat in the kitchen
When company comes,
But I laugh,
And eat well,
And grow strong.

Tomorrow,
I’ll be at the table
When company comes.
Nobody’ll dare
Say to me,
“Eat in the kitchen,”
Then.

Besides,
They’ll see how beautiful I am
And be ashamed—

I, too, am America.

"Martyr" A Poem About Abraham Lincoln

With July 4th coming up and all the racial tensions happening across America I began to revisit American History and this "Martyr" poem came upon me. This poem is about Abraham Lincoln Assassination. This poem captures the Yankees' feelings about the anger they felt towards the Southerners (rebels) and its sympathizers after they heard that the president of United States have been shot. Many Northerners felt that Abraham Lincolns terms of South's surrender were too kind thus the word "kindness" in the poem. Some Southerners were at unease of Abraham Lincoln's assassination fearing that there was going to be a much more vicious retribution from the Union thus the term "bare the iron hand".

The Martyr

Indicative of the passion of the people
on the 15th of April, 1865

Good Friday was the day
    Of the prodigy and crime,
When they killed him in his pity,
    When they killed him in his prime
Of clemency and calm—
         When with yearning he was filled
         To redeem the evil-willed,
And, though conqueror, be kind;
    But they killed him in his kindness,
    In their madness and their blindness,
And they killed him from behind.

              There is sobbing of the strong,
                   And a pall upon the land;
              But the People in their weeping
                                    Bare the iron hand:
              Beware the People weeping
                   When they bare the iron hand.

He lieth in his blood—
    The father in his face;
They have killed him, the Forgiver—
    The Avenger takes his place,
The Avenger wisely stern,
         Who in righteousness shall do
         What heavens call him to,
And the parricides remand;
    For they killed him in his kindness,
    In their madness and their blindness.
And his blood is on their hand.

                    There is sobbing of the strong,
                        And a pall upon the land;
                    But the People in their weeping
                                    Bare the iron hand:
                    Beware the People weeping
                        When they bare the iron hand.
